EDIT1: Absolute first draft of map, done by mouse in paint. You'd start in the right most region, and work your way to the left most region. It's just a rough draft of how the general layout would be. By the way, the reason I'm doing all this so far in advanced, is because I really enjoy seeing progress in my life. I enjoy seeing myself get better as time goes on, and I definitely want to see myself go from knowing near nothing to being somewhat adept at what my goal is. Artistically, technically, and just...in general.
Plus, thread in programming forum.
Basic concept design is to make a game based around being a small time dictator that's trying to rise to power against an old regime/monarchy that has overstayed it's welcome. That being said, the country is scared of the change, and skeptical you're right for the country, or that you'll properly support their village. You must rise from the dictator of a small city in the Eastern Jungle, to capturing the capital in the Western mountainous region.
For now, the game will be based entirely around the map game. The map will be of the nation. You can choose the name for the nation, or eventually I'll come up with a name, whatever sounds more appealing. From there you'll be in your home region of Nobidia. This will be the tutorial region. You'll learn how to take over each village by different means: Propaganda, death squad intimidation, military invasion, assassination of village leader, maybe more options, I don't know. You'll also learn how each village (and the way you capture it) adds to your overall soldier count, which you need to occupation of territories and military invasions of villages and the capital cities of each region.
Does this sound like a decent game, and an easy first project? Suggestions to simplify or improve?
